Alternatives to Apple TV

hey all. have second gen hacked apple tv. thinking of getting second gen , hacking second tv.

got thinking. know there alternatives out there, , curious if here has had experience them. may blasphemy some, i'd know options.

biggest requirements able play variety of codec including mkv , able access box on network- preferably local mount , not ftp or web interface. lastly, love able have access movies files stored elsewhere on network, not must. netflix, boxee, etc not requirement, nice.
