HiDPI Mode for easy couch surfing

i'm using mini htpc center, since use hulu , crunchyroll , occasional downloads, rather using plex or xbmc remote use stock interface wireless mouse , keyboard.

works quite well, 1 exception--being 1080p screen , not particularly large 1 distance couch, interface tiny. if want read text, have , walk on screen.

getting-close-to-prime-time hidpi mode is, interestingly, perfect solution this. setting tv resolution of "940x540", nice, large, readable interface elements, fullscreened video ends sharp have been in regular mode. perfect solution.

well, almost. 2 problems:

1) soft badges on hulu shows (the abc logo, example) pixel-dobuled, instead of being tiny , invisible, they're big , annoying.

2) soft subtitle text, depending on player , subtitle format, can end being unnecessarily large well. this, @ least, can worked around fiddling settings.

suggestions dealing #1? or better solution hidpi mode?

the control key , scroll wheel on mouse zoom in, not sure how you're controlling, use when can't read text on mine.
