iPhone 4S in Japan..

i moved tokyo week, , going here year teaching english. have unlocked iphone 4s bought apple store in uk, , i'd continue using in japan.

i've done bit of research , seems sim-only plans without phones don't exist here in japan. wondering if anyone's been through similar situation , advise me on should do. if got contract cheap phone , trimmed sim , put in 4s, work? if so, plan should on continue using 3g did in uk? in advance helpers.
