iCloud Backup Question

i backed iphone 4s before jb, , turns out went wrong jb (something messed several days after had jb phone). start process of restoring phone, , when part select backup want use, 1 had made before jb not there. backups past few days there (which backups of jb phone). frustrated, went ahead , restored phone "new" phone. have phone how want before attempt jb again. question(s). has happened else? , there way make sure backup not deleted , usable whenever need it? appreciate if can me , sooner rather later. because, jb iphone asap.

*note* did of backups icloud , had phone automatically backup whenever charging.

 

if me, make sure made backup through itunes , disable icloud until jb. after jb, enable icloud backup again.. in theory itunes save backup , won't go anywhere, you're using icloud after that. did make sense? lol
