Almost 10GB RAM used when IDLE on a 1 month old iMac!


hey, everyone!

have 1 month old imac (it turned 1 month old yesterday - happy birthday, imac!; specs in signature!) , seems eating memory apocalypse in 3 seconds. have 12gb ram config. basically, kept stock 4gb, , added 8gb ddr3 1333 mhz modules, 2 4gb sticks. opened activity monitor see how running, notice i'm using 9.70 gigabytes of ram when doing nothing. apps open of writing, safari , activity monitor. have 1 page open in safari, post new thread window. how $%@# can using ten gigabytes of ram, on idle!?!?!? makes no sense me! can explanation, please? appreciated!

inactive ram.
please refer yellow part know how of actual ram it's using..

inactieve ram means cache. when close browser, becomes inactive ram. it's not used browser, , can used other application, if decide start browser once again, it's faster start up, since it's in inactive ram.
