medical doctor. plan buy new software creating database clinical research purposes. patient files in government provided software severely lacking searching keywords assebling different categories of patients groups, statistics etc. plan create new database research purposes invlove many thousands of operating records , patient data such diagnosis, complications, age, operating time etc. journaling software mentioned above have used.
woul appreciate advice/experience software purpose. set-up be_ nurse keys in relevant data. , parametres should searchable , groups of date should able extracted , analyzed. must easy use nurse , flexible in terms of adding new data points.
have experience or advice? mysql based databases? filemaker pro? database custom built. money no object.

you aren't allowed store medical data (at least patient data) in old database program. there lot of regulatory requirements storing medical data.
