Is the new MBP 17" memory capacity 8 or 16GB?

hi .im buying mbp 17"quad core ( md311ll/a). saw apple specification , says memory capacity 8gb. , i've seen same md311ll/a 16 gb on ebay. i'd know whats maximum capacity them. 2 x 4 gb or 2 x 8gb ? can buy 8bg slot , have working 12 gb?

that model compatible 2 x 8gb dimms of ram.

may work 4gb , 8gb, work best pair of ram same size.
