Verizon online order, excessive taxes!!!

i ordered 64gb ipad online verizon last night. when received order confirmation email showed $8,500 in taxes on $829 order!!!!! called verizon , said had order glitches wouldn't charged (obviously). wondering if had same problem?

oh, , no, i've never seen $8,500 taxes on $829 order.
