whereas, bible, word of god, has made unique
contribution in shaping united states distinctive and
blessed nation , people; and
whereas, held religious convictions springing the
holy scriptures led settlement of our country; and
whereas, biblical teachings inspired concepts of civil
government contained in our declaration of independence
, constitution of united states; and
whereas, many of our great national leaders, among them
president washington, president jackson, president lincoln,
president wilson , president reagan, paid tribute the
influence of bible in our country's development, as
exemplified words of president jackson bible is
"the rock on our republic rests"; and
whereas, history of our country illustrates the
value of voluntarily applying teachings of scriptures in
lives of individuals, families , societies; and
whereas, nation faces great challenges will
test has never been tested before; and
whereas, renewing our knowledge of , faith in god through
holy scripture can strengthen nation , people;
therefore it
resolved, house of representatives declare 2012 as
"year of bible" in pennsylvania in recognition of both
formative influence of bible on our commonwealth and
nation , our national need study , apply teachings of
holy scriptures.
