Airport extreme to buy? or not to buy?

hi im considering buying new 5th gen airport extreme apple today. firsty want know if believes apple updating these anytime 6th gen dont mind waiting.

see significant improvement speeds etc @ home, im using bt home hub drops out connection time. stream music films etc macbook pro apple tv 2. have 2tb wd external hard drive media on. beneficial attach directly airport extreme?

its router. have got one. don't think made differences speed looks nice on desk , easy manage.
