Apple removed "Enable 3g" for ATT users... can we restore w/ UK 5.1 firmware instead?

i remember the days being able to:
1) download specific ios firmware http://www.felixbruns.de/ipod/firmware/
2) plug iphone computer
3) press 'shift' when click on itunes restore button
4) able pick firmware on computer wanted restore with.

can att user download uk version of ios 5.1 (with "enable 3g" toggle) , same trick???

ps... **** off apple/att

 

i don;t think so. before flashing update itines checks version of phone version of firmware update. think, @ best, have hacked att firmware.
