Will Airport increase wireless download speed?

hi, bought pos belkin router few years ago have been using wireless needs in house. upgraded internet connection 60 mbps , when directly plugged in router around 40 mbps. (i know advertised speed never occur in real world tests). on wireless connection max out 15ish mbps, upgrading newest airport solve problem?

have late 2007 mbp.

 

it's hard say, i'm inclined vote no on this. if router has capability pump out more mbps it's delivering it's environment factor contributing slow transfer. upgrading unlikely fix issue.
