Problems

hello, new forum here, , dont know question should go if im in wrong place let me know. have problem macbook pro, until plug in mini display port vga adapter in , sharp lcd tv automatically connect , computer show on it. got new adapter thinking might solve problem, bought new vga , hdmi 1 too. didnt solve problem. have found hdmi works on other tvs have not 1 use. dont understand why stop working sudden , frustrating. guys , glad apart of forum.

specs macbook pro are:
15-inch, mid 2010
2.66 intel core i7
4gb ddr3 ram
nvidia geforce gt 330m 512 mb/ intel hd graphics
running mac os x lion 10.7.3

 

i'm not sure what's causing problem, display on sharp lcd show while using seemingly broken adapter if go system prefs > displays , press "detect displays" button? if so, adapter transmitting signal fine.
