iMac G4 SSD via Firewire / HDD Question

hi,

ive purchased imac g4 700mhz cpu, 1gig memory , 40 gig hdd.

aim machine serve media server atv2 in living room. want maximise stream speed access hard drive's (as far im aware) important factor. ssd appealing silent operation , perhaps faster if g4 can keep it.....

imac has usb , firewire 400. question (which im struggling find answers online) provide fastest read/write speed out of following:

1. ssd drive adaptor fitting internally
2. ssd in external case running through firewire 400
3. ssd in external case running through usb

or g4 not quick enough ssd hdd fast?

operation noise different.

booting 2 x ssd's raid0 osx , media slower larger external usb 1tb hdd ups.

research on net give me fastest operation , streaming.

solution feel speed benefits ssd drives through firewire 400 or shall spend far less on couple of hdd , put noise?
