i decided update lion 10.7.3 today , new "ios-style" airport utility. looks mac address based access control gone now. oh well. pain use anyway. alarming 2 of 3 devices had problems upgrade 7.6.1 firmware. started time capsule. doesn't act router more lowest risk. updated fine. turned airport express. update said failed error number of 2753 (i think). searched briefly , decided if wasn't common enough rank on first page of google returns should elsewhere. went support.apple.com. none of devices qualify support old. decided climb 2 flights of stairs, unplug ae (which extends aebs' wireless network) , plug in see happen. turned solid yellow launched airport utility on iphone , time app came ae on line. glanced down hall , sure enough light green. , firmware version said 7.6.1.
decided brave , risk connection outside world upgrading firmware on aebs take down 'net connection , voip phone service if didn't come life. upgrade failed in same spot had failed ae time error number -16. time picked "restart base station" in airport utility menu on mac , waited see if come back. waited longer takes mac boot. ok it's hybrid ssd based mac never wait long seemed long. walked on aebs , unplug when noticed led had turned green.
version number 3 of ae/tc things showing 7.6.1 firmware guess i'm set until next upgrade comes out. hope apple makes little more robust. nobody likes seeing errors upgrading firmware of way of getting on 'net!
i'm posting let know if upgrade firmware in ae , see error, might not such big deal , restart (or little more time) might need.
