Would you pay EXTRA for Retina? (Both Money and Battery Life)

one thing don't understand higher resolution displays have been option on macbook pros years people still opt standard display. whole "retina" bandwagon majority of people demand retina screens requirement upgrading.

im wondering this:
for $200 more pay retina display or stick current resolution , save money?

me, i'm not sure because i've still figure out if whole retina hype sign of apple marketing being successful. bought 2 new ipads , love retina display in real world usage if stuck old ipad 2 wouldn't miss out on anything. same may true great mba screens.

edit:
would pay retina @ cost of battery life?
seems retina display on ipad main reason had fit in larger capacity battery. if going use same battery magic on macbook possible we'd have choice between 8hr standard resolution macbook vs 3hr retina macbook. if so, many mobile users may prefer battery , view retina more novelty.

i consider paying retina...but apple wouldnt that, use retina selling point people buy it.

mean if airs retina, thats alot of adverts go, wouldnt have configuration upgrade.
