i have wifi modem/router that's 5 years old , offers 802.11b/g. it's on ground floor. there rooms on floor above receive poor signal, i'm trying improve.
i'm tempted in getting airport extreme ...
- it's more expensive seemingly similar other routers, , doesn't include modem. justified?
- apple upgrade soon? significant features upgrade have?
- maybe extend existing router's signal through powerline wireless-n adapter. work, however, current modem/router that's b/g?
recommendations or advice?
justified? not. not fan of router + modem combos. appreciate using airport utility configuration. people throw out cheaper routers can run hacked firmware, chances aren't going want that.
appreciate simplicity of airport devices, offer enough customizability purposes. if need more have server more advanced stuff.
of course, nobody knows. 802.11ac on horizon, possible apple update before end of year given recent announcements of 802.11ac chipsets, these devices draft ratification isn't expected until 2013/2014,
in reality, provide little benefit if aren't running 802.11ac devices, won't until buy new hardware/upgrade hardware if possible.
first, powerline stuff pretty buggy in experience, if live in apartment.
connect n device via ethernet , create new network distant areas. @ least. extend b/g network, going depend on device.
