last monday bought macintosh lc , other various 1990's apple products off ad saw on craigslist.
list of things mentioned follows.
-macintosh lc computer
-apple 12" display
-adb keyboard
-adb mouse
-personal 56k modem (serial)
-apple stylewriter printer
-system 7 floppy discs
-various mac os games
interested in listing, , of products, offered guy $90 mentioned. took offer. after asking seller (and him confirming) if computer fully functional, agreed meet buy/sell items.
after meeting, brought devices home , began plug them in. first plugging in computer , display, scrambled around find keyboard cable. turns out, guy didn't include it, or mention it's absence. not big deal, ordered 1 online , waited until arrived (today) continue configuring lc.
once cable arrived, plugged keyboard lc, plugged mouse keyboard, , booted machine. after few seconds, flashing floppy disk question mark on appeared on display. no worries (or thought), assumed seller wipe os , personal data off machine before selling. grabbed system 7 floppies , tried figure out 1 try , boot machine install os. inexperience in classic os use/installation (other mac os 9), couldn't ever figure out floppy disk use. tried them all. 1 one.
here ones tried/had choose regarding system 7:
-disk tools
-install 1
-install 2
-tidbits
-stylewriter installation disk (knew useless attempt, bear me)
-printing (knew useless attempt well, kept on trying)
-hypercard program
-macintosh printing tools (frustration kicking in)
-macintosh truetype fonts (remember tried every single floppy)
-(floppy disk missing tape label)
none of system 7 floppy disks booted machine. after lc tried read each disk, image of floppy disk x flashed on display. few times machine ejected floppies after booting.
wondering if i'd been screwed over, put of floppy disks in usb floppy drive had lying around machine , turns out floppy disks fine. must computer has issues. maybe non-functional floppy disk drive?
there i've done wrong keeping me using machine? missing floppy disk?
based on endeavor of trying use old mac, i've come conclusion either floppy disk drive broken, or i'm missing floppy disk boot system.
input on matter highly appreciated, , thank taking time read post.
