i bought used macbookpro 15" late 2008 $850 (he asking $1,000), has 8gb of ddr3 ram, 250gb hd, , 2.4dualcore, video card (which i'm confused with) says there two. 1 nvidia geforce 9400gt, , other says 9400m gt. both consisting of 256mb ram.
mean have 512mb?
question, screen seems flash black large white streak every ~10m. intermitent. booted , screen didn't turn on, computer on. sounds issues geforce 8600gt had. suggestions or comments?
should hurry , sell before shot?

macbook pro has 2 separate chips graphics.
one, integrated nvidia geforce 9400m. lower performance one, designed power saving , situations video performance isn't critical, such word processing. 9400m draws 256mb of ram system's main ram.
other chip nvidia geforce 9600m gt. higher performance 1 , therefore draws more power. chip has it's own dedicated video ram, 256mb of on our particular model.
these chips not connected , not share memory. can choose 1 want use in energy saver panel in system preferences. "better battery life" uses 9400m , "higher performance" uses 9600m gt.
regarding screen flashing, i'd advise apply macbook pro efi firmware update 2.8 released fix issues screen flashing. fixed problem (which has been problem since got machine) me. screen staying dark, not concerned unless occurs frequently.
