Logitech MX500 Mouse + Lion

i'm posting because it's workaround lion users old mice , if runs same issue did, hope can find google. no need replies :)

upgraded 10.7 few days , have been having all kinds of peripheral troubles. used a(n ancient) logitech mx500. under sl didn't use logitech software , used sl map mouse's buttons various spaces/expose functions. unfortunately wasn't possible under lion (especially moving , forth between desktops), set hot key (apple + left/right) , after downloading latest (3.51) logitech software, bound forward , thumb buttons. however, every time restarted osx driver forget (only) 2 keys , revert defaults.

mouse worked correctly lcc un-installed , steermouse driver, wasn't going pay $20 mouse i've paid , hoping replace in near future. called logitech, got run around them , told try version 3.30 of lcc software (available here). however, 3.30 installer won't work under lion.

told me mouse busted , buy new one. had no intention of doing (why should replace mouse - replaced faulty logitech mouse) , worked fine under sl.

took long shot , opened lcc 3.30 software, using "show package contents" on lcc-installer app. there \contents\resources\logitech control center.mpkg let me install out version check. 3.30 isn't made lion assigning hotkeys mouse buttons (you may need go mission control preference pane, disassociate action @ current key [i.e., change mission control f9 left control] assign key button on mouse, , assign in mission control pref pane) , using spaces/expose action, should under lion.

i'm upgrading magic trackpad when upgrade laptop, of stuck using old mice while, work around logitech's notoriously garbage software. or, hopefully, apple make mission control granular spaces/expose , i'll able reassign mouse buttons moving between desktops.

i have same issue, have been using mx500 since windows xp , hoping that, after buying macbook pro, continue working flawless did before.

well.. doesn't. thing is, it's not in lion. had upgrade gaming pc w7 , guess what... no side buttons there also. it's plain 2 button mouse.

since mac bootcamp w7 can't use anywhere solution buy new mouse... , it's not logitech, sure. lack of support shocking , me there many, many people in same boat.

expect company have products - not cheap have solid performance - keep supporting them.
in people keep buying them because of support , quality when computer... mistake guess.
