(note: author not scientist, sociologist or financial expert, novelist, analysis seems spot on me)
greatly reduced in lengthhistory taking in direction , don't want hear it. we've got our hands clapped on our ears , we're shouting "kittens , puppies! kittens , puppies!" here of things we're confused about:
...
- we tell ourselves we're in economic recovery ... fuggeddabowdit... we've entered contraction seem permanent until reach economic re-set point comports planet can provide us... lower imagine.
- the housing sector never come ... built many houses in wrong places ... we're done building suburbia, , after while, when can no longer stand dysfunction , inconvenience, we'll done living in stuff that's there... suburban dynamic increasingly fails, disappointment may turn fury. result of leaders not telling public truth many many years.
- more higher education not going bring turbo-charged consumer economy. not need more office gerbils... that's going in opposite direction too... center of economic life in america food production , other agricultural activities... need more farmers .. , more human laborers working in fields ...
- we're not going "tech" our way through array of mega-problems face, in particular energy predicament. american mind-space today clogged cargo-cult fantasies electric cars, nano-manufacturing, , "information" technology allow trajectory of progress continue have known , loved it. too, end of suburbia, lead vast disappointment...
nice if correct disorders in collective conversion call "politics," going see ever greater divergence reality. moment, leadership in america has drunk kool-aid, of lacks conviction , competence, none of wants enter actual future.
