Retail stores setup suggestions

dear friends,

own couple shoes retail stores. information through notebooks , paper material in general.

setup database store data customers, products, warehouse, etc.

cannot use software enhance accounting, since greek law don't accept random developer erp software, ones gorvenment has approved.

nevertheless, don't care enhancing accounting @ moment, wish better information route.

propose hardware , software setup serve information needs ??

after googling, think mac server running lightspeed , several ipads serve me well...
there better alternatives ???
