Anyone know a Terminal Command to rename audio codecs?

hey all
ive got set of alesis usb speakers , yamaha usb audio interface.
alesis usb speakers can play audio , audio interface input.
yamaha usb audio interface input interface , not play audio (as has no speakers built in)
both appear on system "usb audio codec" system , me getting confused use input/output.

have terminal command line can rename them appropriate different name?
