Please help me

hi bf has iphone 3gs , broke screen , lcd bit!!! bought him new 1 placed phone , of works. battery dead charged till 100% full (shown on itunes) anyway tried turn on , apple logo came on , circular thing came , spins , nothing else happens. held home button off button down , same tried restore through tunes still it's same apple logo , circular thing spinning that's happens. can 1 please please ?????????

also iphone not jail broken

 

tried dfu-mode, restore , set new? meaning no use of backup.
