Cant Type 8 in Terminal Console

hey,

have strange issue, been using iterm2 , stopped allowing me type number 8. other numbers work fine, , key works in other programs not iterm2 , terminal. tried mac terminal after iterm2 had fault , affecting them both. strange issue , i'm not sure try resolve it.

have tried typing 8, copy / pasting 8. both have same results. terminal can display 8 if in file being edited or in top.

if theres way reinstall terminal that, i'm not sure how. i'm not familiar macs , more used linux.

 

okay, tried in sudo su , seems work. looks tied profile. there way default reset config terminal?
