an xls file appeared magically on desktop; name bunch of letters , numbers.
can't delete it, , i'm scared it's virus or nefarious.
tried using terminal delete typing in sudo rm filename, typing in password, says file doesn't exist. when view dekstop in finder, file doesn't show up.
if right click , select "get info" nothing happens.
what's deal?

there no viruses mac os x in public circulation, handful of trojans , other malware, have installed manually via entering administrator password.
anti-virus need protect mac education , common sense.
