Charging while connected to tv

my mom watch lot of video streaming- more 6 hrs straight. should ipad charged while being connected tv. or should wait till battery drained before connecting d charger hdmi adapter? fell asleep 1 time , battery drained out. took me few hours of charging ipad before there sign of battery life. thought time ipad had died.

 

it not matter.
charge when convenient.
