Need Help: DVD player not working

i have 15-inch mbp 2008 model. reason straight out of box had problems dvd/disk reader. recognized , read dvd's , other times spit disc right out. upgraded os , wont play or read kind of disc insert. there anyway reinstall drives player , help?

 

i had mine replaced. figured since system disc wasn't reading had problem.. if under warrantee, have apple check out.
