16GB- To Ramdisk or not

so price of 16gb ddr3 falling (have made jump), allocating 2gb ramdisk seems no brainerin terms of available resources, use for? should not need persistent between power cycles.

here thoughts, if knows how execute or has experience on of below of great interest

  • safari cache (other browsers too)
  • photoshop/in design scratch disk
  • temporary area holding wip files images
  • other?

reference purposes here xbench hard disk scores 13"mbp, speed of ramdisk cannot denied..

  • ramdisk: 1386.89
  • crucial m4 128gb (primary sata interface): 398.96
  • momentusxt500 (secondary sata interface): 40.64

if os doing job (caching used stuff in memory , using available ram) should not needing ram disk.

modern oses (win/mac/linux) aggressive caching of used files - binary in ram when load second time, file program reading / writing buffered in cache , read ahead. sort of obviates use of ram disk imho.
