Extreme wifi interference on 2.4Ghz band, what to do?

is there not thinking of wifi devices work in extremely crowed band? have ap set 2.4ghz wireless-g, site survey reveals 65 other ap's transmitting in range. speedtests taken connected device on ap extremely poor, , ping times terrible. have moved possible on 5ghz, works fine, devices such iphone stuck on 2.4ghz.
