iphone 3g switches off when I insert SIM card

i dropped iphone 3g, when insert sim card switches off after 10 mins 1 hour. if there's no sim stays on time , works normally. ideas please?

unusual problem, 1 have never encountered before. can try obvious of fixes, example..

plug iphone charger , turn off, insert sim card while still off , turn on after have placed sim card in. keep iphone plugged in during entire process.

if doesn't work, try restoring iphone whilst sim card out, make backups of files may have on iphone , try again after restoration.
