Restoring from copy of Mac HD?

my 2009 macbook, running lion started acting up. (running extremely slow, overheating, etc.) unable lacie porsche drive, don't have backed copy. kept giving me error message.

able pull hd out , copy onto lacie drive manually. question:

once macbook comes apple, i'm sure hd wiped clean, possibly replaced. how can restore copy have on lacie, since did not copy using time machine backup feature?

you try manually or via migration assistant (which may not work depending on file system , copied).

migration assistant / setup assistant information:

setting-up new mac old one, backups, or pc
which includes:

• using setup assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using setup assistant on lion
• using migration assistant on snow leopard or leopard
• using migration assistant on lion
• transferring files 1 user account another
• transferring home folders not on startup volume
• transferring applications
• problems after using migration assistant
