MacBook Air/iMac in Target Display Mode

hoping if possible!

i'm wanting connect mba imac thunderbolt, using target display mode (while mba closed) can use imac monitor; , i'm wanting use synergy control mba imac's keyboard/mouse while doing this.

i've come across 2 problems:-

1. in target display mode, imac ignores input mouse/keyboard, can't find way use them on mba (via synergy) while imac in mode.

2. mba goes sleep when closing lid (and can't woken except usb/bluetooth keyboard/mouse), won't stay on when put in bookarc (vertical stand).

i've been trying figure workaround both of these issues few weeks now, no luck yet. hoping on here can figure out?!
