Making "the big switch"

i've been looking @ buying imac on past few months, have held off since current pc (dell xps) has no problems , still new.

however, today building lost power, , though pc on surge protector, believe pc fried... can't turn on.

well, long story short, take "opportunity" new imac have had eye on.

so, question is, since first mac, can expect switching pc mac? i've played around little them @ apple store, no amount of demo time can give true feeling of day day use like. have other people here experienced problems or hang ups when switching pc mac? there critical information need know novice mac user?

advice or suggestions of great help. guys.
