so friend asked me if fix 2008 penryn macbook. lcd screen broken , needed new keyboard, apparently booted , worked fine.
basically, took whole thing apart, following guide replace lcd screen on ifixit.com (http://www.ifixit.com/guide/installing-macbook-core-2-duo-lcd-panel/1498/1). replaced screen , lcd brackets realized 1 of airport antenna cords torn. bought new screw set because there many screws missing , read many of them crucial computer run (they needed complete circuit). replaced keyboard.
double-checked plugged in correctly (including ram). when turned on sounds chime , shows grey screen. there no apple logo or spinning wheel. realized computer requires plugged in @ times or shut down- don't believe issue before). tried every startup key combination , reset nvram.
after decided try boot snow leopard install disk (even though mac running leopard (10.5.x) , after tiger install disk , neither worked. don't have leopard disk, if crucial might able hands on one.
interestingly, startup keyboard shortcut garnered response, besides resetting nvram , ejecting install disks, when held option key- mouse appear.
@ point, need can get. i'm no expert @ , i'm terribly afraid have sell on ebay , buy computer.
in advance advice!
when mouse appears, list of bootable drives should appear here. 1 assume hard drive had died not listed, strange is, there no flashing questionmark when turn on no keys pressed. though double checked, there maby small thing somewhere not seated correctly.
