3rd gen iPod Touch - Music app crashing on a white screen

hello everyone,

i've had 64 gb ipod touch, 3rd generation long time now. never jailbroken, runs ios 5.0.1, has 8,764 songs. has worked great me, first time it's stumped me.

can't open music app more. if tap main screen, shows "opening app" animation , goes white screen blue bar @ top , black bar @ bottom, neither of have items on them. 20 seconds later app disappears , we're left @ home screen.

when stopped working using smart playlist based on last played date , rating (very slow due song quantity) , pressed genius on song. genius button switched spinner , never generated genius list.

tried sync ipod - had plugged mac night. didn't watch itunes doing while syncing (since sleeping), there weren't errors in morning... still doesn't work though.

i've tried turning off , on again, , hard-resetting (two-button salute).

ideas? else seems work fine (games, safari, etc.)

 

i have same exact problem on iphone 4s 5.0.1

did ever find solution or cause of this?
