Best DVD Menu Creation Software


what consensus on powerful dvd authoring applications available today? want able play intro sequence before main menu shows. asking users on forum think out of chosen applications in this list top 10 reviews , wanted opinion. sony dvd architect studio sounds pretty want make sure has features need. roxio looks solid well, i'm leaning toward roxio @ point.
 

i have hardly heard of applications, ever.
prefer dvd studio pro, allow want. since part of final cut studio, might hard , still bit expensive.

if 1 time deal , can in less 30 days, @ 30-day trial of adobe encore, professional optical disc authoring application, though bit complicated , overwhelming. capable of want do.

dvd studio pro nicer , bit easier though.

Installing Lion. Internet Recovery? Thumb drive?


hi!

have installed 10.7.3 10.6.8 adn runs fine, think there small down in performance.

should clean install lion? it's better way install it? want skip things flasback trojan...

anyway, 1 best way clean install? create install disk or usb, or internet recovery install?

can me?
 

many have reported lion uses more resources sl, may account decrease in performance. don't think should need reinstall lion. may help: performance tips mac os x
macs not immune malware, no true viruses exist in wild can run on mac os x, , there never have been since released on 10 years ago. malware in wild can affect mac os x handful of trojans, can avoided practicing safe computing (see below). also, mac os x snow leopard , lion have anti-malware protection built in, further reducing need 3rd party antivirus apps.
  1. make sure built-in mac firewall enabled in system preferences > security > firewall

  2. uncheck "open "safe" files after downloading" in safari > preferences > general

  3. uncheck "enable java" in safari > preferences > security. leave unchecked until visit trusted site requires java, re-enable visit site. (this not confused javascript, should leave enabled.)

  4. check dns settings reading this.

  5. be careful install software trusted, reputable sites. never install pirated software. if you're not sure app, ask in forum before installing.

  6. never let else have access install on mac.

  7. don't open files receive unknown or untrusted sources.

  8. make sure network, email, financial , other important passwords complex, including upper , lower case letters, numbers , special characters.

  9. always keep mac , application software updated. use software update mac software. other software, it's safer updates developer's site or menu item "check updates", rather installing notification window pops while you're surfing web.
that's need keep mac free of virus, trojan, spyware, keylogger, or other malware. don't need 3rd party software keep mac secure.

if rent movie using mac , transfer rental ipad, need internet connection (wifi or 3g) view rented movie? i'm asking because i'd rent movie , watch on long flight in won't have internet access. thanks.

Apple overcharging for the iPhone?


why apple charging $750 iphone when new ipad + 4g costs $630?

based on quick calculations based on price of ipod touch (which iphone without phone part), , price of ipad 4g (which ipad with phone part), iphone 4 $220 more expensive should be, , iphone 4s $420 more expensive should be!

price discrepancy seems supported isuppli teardown component estimate of iphone 4s, $188, , new ipad + 4g, $364 (double of iphone 4s).

if conclude apple unnecessarily overcharging on iphone, theories why? or "because can"?
 

what r&d, software development, labor, etc ...

"cost breakdowns" don't account of that.

Iphone 4 will not recognize US Sim cards?


i bought used iphone 4, , not recognize sim cards. apparently used in mexico (found out after purchase) , im being told needs original sim in order me able use it? doesnt make sense me. im pretty sure phone locked at&t, there sort of lock on international use or something? appreciated.
 

its not locked at&t. if you'd able activate at&t sim.
, no, at&t doesnt put locks on phones international use only.
guess iphone locked mexican carrier or maybe carrier outside us.
if had sim original carrier locked able activate , homescreen.
still wouldnt able unlock , wont recognize or accept other sims carrier locked to.
either way @ lost cause.

[Urgent!] restore data from another iPhone 4?


hi, exchanged iphone 4 32gb unlocked 16 gb 1 cousin. , since yesterday trying restore previous data 32gb one.
can't successes! :(
every time after restore new iphone, itunes show 'set iphone' page! mean doesn't show set new or restore backup!
i'm getting sick of seeing this. :mad:
please guys me solve issue. :)
in advance.

n.b: backup old iphone 4 right click on , click 'back up', itunes date , both device on ios 5.0.1!
operating system win 7 x64.

New computer advice


i have new mac itch , buying new computer after line refreshed (hopefully redesign).

do/will computer:

-adobe cs5.5
-imovie , starting on final cut
-light garageband , learning logic
-several autodesk
-3d modeling

i'm recent design school grad. need serious while portable. of serious work @ desk @ home. may change in future though.

have:

-mid '11 2.7 i5 27" imac
-27" cinema display
-ipad 16 gb

i'm debating between going few different ways...

keep imac , macbook air complement can used cinema display @ times

sell imac , loaded 15" mbp , use cinema display @ home (any real advantage upgrading tb?)

sell imac , base mac pro upgraded gaphics load myself ssd , 16+ gb ram. use cinema display. continue using ipad portable needs.

find lion makes having 2 displays less useful , 1 27" screen seems enough.

advice or other suggestions welcome.

How can I install Panther on a partition?


i have summer 2001 imac g3 has mac os x 10.1 installed. want install mac os x 10.3 on it, want access 10.1 well. know have partition disk, when open disk utility know won't able make changes startup disk. there way boot disk utility can make partition? or able make partition directly 10.3 disc? thanks!

i think it's more widescale un can ever know.

brits don't care drugs. talk night group of people social issues , drugs might never come up. , if come up, might cheeky reference personal use youth.

other thing coke used white collars , in media/entertainment. takes taboo of somewhat. remember random sweep in parliament years ago found traces of coke on toilet cisterns (basically mps goin' in line every , again).

rate binge drinking , drink related crime, teenage pregnancy rates , gps handing out anti-psychotic meds more worthwhile causes (for uk) illegal drugs. cannabis.. wish they'd lay off bit.

Mobile me shutdown- tell me like I'm a five year old!


i'm running snow leopard, have iphone 3gs , mobileme account. syncing between devices has been unstable while. need contacts, calendars , e-mail address- i've built small business using them. macbook 3 years old , don't want upgrade either machine or os year or so. please tell me think options are.
can upgrade icloud without lion?
if do, ical , address book , mail work, or have use contacts/calendar via web browser?
phone still sync contacts , calendar via push? should considering third party such google?

guys, registered have answered , apologise if bit of theme @ minute!

no, cannot use icloud sync in using snow leopard. have same set 3 yr old macs. use @me.com apple stuff , use google calendar, address, email, photos, etc. not plan on upgrading 10.7 or 10.8.
not trusting apple going hold few years. pleased googles sync services.

Who's switching to a different colored iPad 3?


i got black ipad 2 last year. wanted white 1 sold out grabbed black , couldn't bring myself exchange it. year, did iphone, i'm planning on going switch white. don't find distracting white bezel , enjoy variety since both black , white iphones/ipads beautiful gadgets.

else going try out different color ipad 3? men still feel insecure white ipad? <- (asking other people's opinions, not myself. imo, white freakin cool girls , guys)

iTunes question regarding library organization


hello everyone,

pc user make jump.
have ordered 21.5 imac 2tb hdd can hold large music collection.

let me start saying never liked itunes, on pc @ least.

think can ok, since have ipad , plan on getting iphone well. must match right? =)

anyway, have 2 questions not make me change mind, want prepare correctly:

1. itunes @ version 10, how @ managing 100k+ songs ? have on 125k songs , keep growing...

2. there way customize how media folder organized? collection tagged, , stored using genre\album artist - album\track - title pattern. way, can see itunes windows, stored using artist\album method.

think can live #2 if there way not to, i'd know how.

in advance help!

YouTube stops playing when switching tabs on safari


this doesn't happen opera or atomic, i'm wondering if supposed happen. when play video on utube want surf while plays in background, when switch different tab turns off. know can double click on home button , press play while it's in different tab, don't wanna every time switch , forth between youtube.
 

i think, double press home button , start playing again possibility listen video while on tab/app...
don't know why apple made 'complicated'

Backing up jailbrake


whats best thing now?
possible sync new jb apps itunes?
have mac mini (lion), on earlier , had itunes open, detecting 4s via wifi. showing cydia app etc on preview screen didnt want without asking first.

if backup, overwrite backup did before ran jb?
 

it's possible iphone before jailbroke.
itunes isn't going jailbreak programs.
find backups tend pile on hard drive.

Help needed on mac!!!


right, internal microphone no longer working reason not know , when try talk people on skype cannot here me well, have speak right laptop them here me little bit. went out , bought simple computar external microphone , guy in shop said work mac. got home , tried test using photobooth video yet again no sound. did abit of research , told me buy usb soundcard did. got dynamode usb 2.0 sound card , when plug in , go system preferance can see there usb audio. plug microphone , headphones sound card , go onto photobooth video , record something. play myself , cant hear anything. headphones definatly working through sound card can listen itunes , stuff through it,

appreciated know havent wasted loads of money
 

do have headphones built in microphone (ex. iphone headphones)? if so, connect , try talk via skype.

did install os along mac? if boot , try out. can try , see if can locate "driver" external mic have.

Can't boot into my Bootcamp partition


so making small 2gb partition share files between osx lion , windows 7 partitions.
after did that, transferred files on partition, tried booting windows.
so, normal hold alt when turn on, , see osx lion startup , osx recovery option. windows missing :(

go osx figure out what's wrong, under startup disks still has option boot bootcamp , when restart into.. option restarts , sits on blank white screen.

can still see bootcamp partition in finder, files still there.
thinking if reverse did work, deleted ~2gb partition , extended mac osx partition fill empty space. still no windows, can help?
i'm running lion.

Partition list is broken


he everybody,

title should read "partition list small".

have 3 tb seagate usb hard drive connected imac. has library of normal (so .avi, .mov etc) , mkv videos on it. have hard drive since few weeks. use ps3 media server stream playstation 3.

since yesterday stops playing files after time. when go in folder shows file broken. trying other videos, broken well.

anyway, apparently, drive disconnected imac (when went go check settings in pms, first thing saw on screen disconnected drive in "bad" way, message when when disconnect drive without ejecting in mac os x).

might understand, did not disconnect drive. went check hard drive using disk utility. when check partition on it, there's nothing wrong. however, when check disk says "partition division (this translated, guess it's "the partition list") needs restored because problem occurred system file efi-system partition".

basically, think message problem. pushing "restore disk" button did help. says efi partition list small , still needs restored. pressing "restore disk" button doesn't help. how make partition list correct?

know transfer files other drives (which hassle, because don't have 1 tb free on of hard drives, have scramble files on hard drives, , later put them , remove them), i'd rather not.

@ moment i'm doing deep scan data rescue (some website said help). however, how can rebuild list afterwards? list need rebuild or else?

p.s. hard drive has guid-partition table.
partition created on mac os extended (journaled). nothing wrong.

Is This the Right Way to Undo My iTunes Match Mess?


backstory
on years we've purchased lot of music itunes on wife's account (we'll call wife@me.com) apps iphone.

got ipad , purchased lot of apps ipad using husband@me.com.

bought itunes match subscription using wife's itunes account, wife@me.com on our home computer.

problem
want share of our music , our apps between our devices can't b/c we're using 2 different itunes accounts.

solution - right way?
going stop using wife@me.com account altogether. start using husband@me.com future itunes purchases.

lose access music purchased wife@me.com itunes account?

should match account? @ point, i'm inclined right off $25 , start on husband@me.com itunes match subscription. lose if that?
 

yes, can't combine them.

Best Browser for iBook?


hey guys. bought ibook g3 on ebay $65. has 256 mb of ram. looking options browsers, , noticed tenfourfox needs 512 mb! still work?

other browser suggestions? safari browser on os tiger?

browser reccommend, or use?

camino pretty fast on power pc's. ten 4 fox nice, out speed, try camino. there g3 optimized versions of both.

once open camino go preferences , web features, block web advertising , block flash. makes faster. can disable java script.

Macbook won't boot up, Fans start for 1 second then shuts off


hi guys,

when try start macbook, can hear fan starts 1 second , shuts down. see battery light full. don't see apple logo or anything.

know may or how resolve issue? think processor, hard drive or motherboard may dead?

Youtube Video Playback Issues


apologies if has been discussed before , resolved have tried watching few youtube videos on new imac , have problem whereby video play sound , have black screen watch. i've tried googling solution other putting https instead of http can't find anything, , https option doesn't solve issue me anyway.

have guide how resolve problem youtube videos play find rather annoying having spent £1,000 on new computer can't play cheap computer able ease.

iphone 4 4.3.3 restoring to 5.0.1 help please..!!


hi..,

new forum, if great because have done lot of searching without sucess.

ok so, have jailbroken iphone4 running cydia version 4.3.3 , want upgrade ios 5.01 , jailbreak again. problem having lot of errors during process making me mad.

first of read need save shsh using tinyumbrella in case goes wrong , went revert , restore phone. have downloaded tinyumbrella , install here comes first problem, tinyumbrella can't detect iphone. i've done search , told java problem , need uninstall , re-install java did, still can't detect phone. left without saving shsh.

next step restore iphone 5.0.1 using itunes, have downloaded 5.01 file rename .ipsw because in .rar, restore had errorcode 3194, again doing search , came know there problem host file , need add somekind of text using notepad host file , save it. need put phone in dfu mode , restore again itunes.

after doing above step got error code 1602, after googling came know need uninstall itunes , re-install did no luck, have install program called ireb read maybe fix problem having errorcode 1601.

thought maybe have done wrong re-did steps 2 or 3 times tired of , having same error code. thing haven't done yet try on computer don't have pc in hand try it. please help.....!!!
 

frustrating, not single reply, came on forum help, please ?

Anyone with console knowledge out there?

i've been getting problem every week or so, 1 of 4 processor threads gets used system, leading crash/reboot. i've found console line appears right before happens:

04-04-12 10:34:20,000 kernel: appleusbmultitouchdriver::validatechecksum - 512-byte packet checksum incorrect (expected 0xad2e, checksum bytes 0xb9ff)

know can this/prevent this?

does have app? , if do, during multiplayer how battery go down? mine goes down lot. think might normal game not sure.
 

i have app , i've played multiplayer mode twice haven't noticed abnormal battery drain.

hi there.

i'm new here. hoping me.

have macbook pro, details are:
lion 10.7.2, 2 ghz intel core i7, 4 gb 1333 mhz ddr3 etc.
i'm using boot camp run 64bit windows 7 on partitioned 500gb (250/250) hard drive.

have next no documents or files on mac, while i'm typing little freezes or pauses , "rainbow pinwheel thing" appears 2-3 seconds , i've typed doesn't appear, when pinwheel goes being mouse pointer, text i've typed catches itself.
plain annoying , seems happen often. whilst writing this.
thing while freezes/pauses few seconds, music on itunes stops while in state, starts playing again when catches itself...

i'm bit rubbish @ explaining it, hope rough idea.

tips great, i'm stumped.... of thought lack or memory/slow disk or something, can't see reasoning it.

forwards replies.
 

looks program consuming of resources. given mbp specs, should not running trouble mac applications.

see going on, recommend opening terminal , running "top" command. should show processes running , taking cpu. please tell if can see problems on it.

Color Problem - White is multihued in various areas, rose, green, brown, etc etc


so don't have real yellow hue, noticing different problem want know if others seeing.

when viewing white screen, webpage or page of ebook, "white" parts sort of various hues. sort of greenish @ top, rose @ bottom. maybe tan areas. point is, though it's barely noticable, it's not white. , it's bothering me.

when compared ipad 2, difference drastic , clear. ipad 2 uniform, hueless white.

question - nature of new display, , on it? have 2 "new ipads", both of have exact same symptom. it's not yellow screen, it's sort of rainbow effect. right side sorta light green, , left sorta light red. barely noticeable.

being picky, or there actual white ipads out there, , didn't 1 (two).

attached photo/sample shows pretty clear. know eyedropper samples extremely subtle - it's totally noticeable , if that's how is, have return until it's fixed... or , need accept it?
