SSD upgrade + Raid Array Creation?

so, right have wd raptor 10k i'll upgrading ssd in near future. in 3 other bays, have 3x1tb wd blacks.

now, prefer set raid 5 array (as single disk data) , use ssd boot/app disk.

know disk utility has built in configuration raid 10, , need raid card create raid 5 array.

further, have read on maczfs , believe make single, backed disk out of 3 drives. nervous using filesystem business.

computer used graphic design. guys recommend?

 

you have options.

put ssd in optical bay space, buy matching 1tb drive , raid10 4 1tb drives in 4 slots.

put ssd in slot 1, , make raid0 of 3 1tb drives, data regularly single external 3tb or 4tb drive.

drop cash on hardware raid card, , benefits of parity raids, can expensive.
