Upgrade memory on iMac Late 2009

i have 4gb on imac (late 2009). i'd upgrade 8gb. there 4 slots, 2 have 2 gb ddr3 1067 mhz each, other 2 empty. what's best way 8gb? add 2 2gb's or replace have 2 4 gb's? brand buy , how should expect spend? also, how make sure got right kind of memory mac? ddr3 1067mhz or there more it? thanks!

best way add 2 more 2gb. 2gbs cheaper , if goal 8 gb adding super cheap 2gb better. if goal 16 gb add 2 4gb chips , run 12.

2x4gbs 40-50 bucks matched set.
