Programs causing the fan to crank

i have bad tendency play various programs under classic on 1.5 ghz g4 albook (with 2 gb memory). i've noticed programs seem cause fan automatically crank up. worst offender fullwrite 2.0.6. fan start within 1 minute of launching program, no matter what, , run constantly. nisus writer another, though takes bit longer. yet, can load wordperfect 3.5e, , work in hours no trouble @ all.

normal these programs? else have problem? love retro feel of working these programs, constant fan running sets nerves on edge...

 

open activity monitor , select all processes , sort cpu show process(es) slowing down mac or speeding fans or causing more heat.
