Is this likely to fix iMessage?

imessage hasnt been working me. says 'waiting activation' day, says unsuccessful. ive heard people full restore in dfu mode fixes it. tried that, restored recent backup stuff back, didn't work... chance there restoring iphone in dfu mode , restoring new iphone solve problem? dont want unless have to, because setting scratch pain.....

 

1.restore new
2.see if imessage fixed. if does, right-click iphone icon on itunes , restore previous backup.
3. ??????
4. profit!
