Failed text retry

hi all

live in fringe area mobile signal means on quite number of occasions text i'm trying send fail. more not, failure happens after have locked phone have no visual notification or indication text has failed (and i'm twiddling thumbs wondering why recipient hasn't replied!). there way iphone retry sending failed sms automatically? know there's visual notification of failed text if haven't locked phone.
