hi,
i'm on vacation , need download/store .mts files , photos canon hf s20 harddrive.

goal store files .mts on ehd have me byway of macbook air, , later access them on home computer (macpro) processing. aim of keeping highest quality image/sound possible.

second question.
need first download/install cineform neoscene type program transfer .mts files canon camcorder or can drag/drop folder off camcorder ehd?
same pictures? (i'm assuming j-peg type files?)

lastly, what's 2 cents on best processing program home movie+ user?

first: don't have transfer while on holiday , can copy files hard drive. make sure copy whole folder structure of sd card , not .mts files. otherwise have lot of work later. programs can import footage folder structure, when on hard drive, , in worst case, can copy them sd card , import, 1 backup after other. :) should work fine if copied whole structure.

whenever cards full , i'm on road, complete backup , reformat them.

if have not yet tried software, think imovie easiest start with. if want go more professional , more complicated stuff, can upgrade final cut pro x without relearning interface completely. not recommend final cut express, since not cheaper final cut pro x , has major drawbacks in comparison (if want know more, ask...). adobe premiere (and after effects) has "pro" interface. meaning if have experience lot of non-linear editing software, might premiere better imovie or fcpx. if start out new, both programs have steep learning curve.
haven't tried sony vegas...

2 cents.
