i can't figure out can't believe apple left out obvious...

save sites using bookmark key. after while realize lot about, football. create folder named "football".

can't figure out how existing bookmarks move new tab! tried dragging , dropping doesn't work. ideas?

 

i believe must create new folder , go bookmark , resave new folder.

Other than placing a sim card, is there a way of telling an iPhone is unlocked?

i have iphone first generation in front of me, jailbroken , unlocked. jailbroken see cydia installed.
now, other placing tmobile sim card in , activating (no sim card available outside of at&t card installed), there way of spotting iphone being unlocked?

 

as apple never sold unlocked first generation iphones in us, check model number. if ends ll, locked at&t. because it's first generation iphone, easy unlock.

Thinking of selling my Pippin Prototype?

so, think time move pippin proto on, i'm not using , hidden in cupboard not being enjoyed.

developers project unit internal hd cd drive sits. has pre-release kinka rom allowing boot including external mac, internal hd , floppy drive. set play os7 ppc game not pippin titles. comes prototype floppy drive, proto controller, @world keyboard, modem , adc pippin converter cable allow connection of mac peripherals. has rare 16mb ram module on board , unreleased browser on hd.

what's worth think? there still market these, i'm kind of out of touch these days?

 

there's gotta market, kind of price not know. seems apple collector feel pretty rad having set fill in niches of of apple's stranger product decisions.

Any way to run 10.3.8 in 10.7.2?

hey guys,

i've been using ancient powerbook g4 10.3.8 last 7 years , picked mac mini server 10.7.2 vmware fusion. while using g4, cloned hd, had 10.3.8 bootable external fw hd, has saved me many times.

when got mac mini, not boot 10.3.8 drive (note: wouldn't boot in friend's snow leopard either). made iso drive run in vmware, seems vmware supports 10.5 , 10.6. there anyway run 10.3.8 bootable disk in 10.7.2? virtualbox or parallels it? other options there?

10.3 requires powerpc machine, vmware doesn't provide. there no way 10.3 run in vmware.

don't know other options available. several years ago looked @ app called pearpc have no idea whether it's still supported or whether best choice.

when traveling abroad, there no difference between vzw , at&t models. neither lte outside , canada. both hspa+. so, vzw better assuming vzw has lte in hi. if not, at&t 3g faster vzw 3g.

A Little Irritated

so, new ipad has visible led light, causes infamous red/pink tint on upper left hand corner.

called apple care (i did not purchase type of warranty), , tried tell me glue on digitizer, claiming officially causes yellow screens.

repeated myself 5 different times physically see led light, , causing red or pink tint @ normal viewing angles. guy asks me confirm carrier identification serial number, repeated had wifi only, insisted had 4g, after several minutes admitted defeat.

got repair id, not them put hold on account , overnight new one, instead since not applecare subscriber, have wait 10 days ipad. ridiculous, in mind, shipped ipad major issues , have suffer because did not pay $100.

not send me shipping label drop off in drop box next house, instead adamant me going closest ups store, half hour away, , busy. tried telling me better option because hand them ipad , not worry packaging myself, hot @ point , gave not **** in world.

needless if next 1 not perfect, refund , wait , see if **** together.

done ranting, information found out apple confirming glue issues causing yellow tinting , seems having visible light causes red tint people reporting.

btw love new ipad, fantastic, if ever arrives me in decent condition. went through 3 ipad 2's suffered horrible light bleed (not minor lot of people complain about).

 

is there apple store near you? if can take there , replacement...

i hoping step step advice 2 things:

1. make ipad1 new (fully restored, no personal data retained) sell it.

Multiple Displays

i have decided connect second display 27" imac. goal have windows (through vm ware fusion) running on alternate 20" samsung display , leave imac mac stuff. need windows due microsoft applications (access, visio etc...)

problem: if open full screen app (e.g. mail) on imac, second display goes new "desktop." knew happen, wondering if there way disable spaces or more desktops on second display. fantastic no matter space or application on mac using, second monitor remain on first space, using vm ware fusion.

running latest version of lion (10.7.3), , windows 7 on vm ware fusion (3.1.3). please ask questions might have.

this 1 of flaws in lions's full screen thinking. it's meaningless dual-screen user myself too. have acd 24" attached imac 27" never use fullscreen mode now.

Startup Disk?

first-time poster here..

current hd (startup disk) failing in mac pro - 500 gb, hitachi (7200 rpm).

have duplicate hitachi 500 gb hd replace it, , purchased 2 tb seagate hd (7200.12 sata 6gb/s 64mb cache).

current startup disk has programs, plugins, etc. installed on (duh.) - question:

should clone current (failing) 500gb replacement 500gb hd use startup disk, , use 2 tb data/storage?

or, should (can i?) clone/partition failing 500gb hd 2 tb drive, , use larger - , potentially faster - drive startup disk?

inherent advantages/disadvantages, either way?

i'd clone second 500 on , use that. i'm not fan of partitions because end reading & writing both partitions @ same time, hurts performance.

MBA 2011 : to buy or not to buy ?

have money invest in purchase of mba (the second 1 i'm buying in couple of months, since had first 1 stolen in september :'( ). i'll categorically need before end of may, because need massive data treatement uni, impossible perform on old netbook crap.

rumors around mba 2012 released soon, in april or may ; otoh other rumors rather released in june or later summer, mountain lion. so, understand dilemma : wouldn't mind lingering month or netbook, if it's worth brand new ivy bridge air ; if, after this waiting, i'll have buy mba 2011 because apple set mba 2012 released @ end of may, in june or whatever - well, piss me off.

know apple knows if , when 2012 update released (it's said big ceo in sky asked newcomer steve jobs news, , said : top secret). 2 questions different :

1. is there hope that, during month of march, rumors more reliable, if not actual release date, @ least when surely not released ?
2. if buy apple-refurbished , guaranteed air 13' i7 1,8ghz 256gb for, say, 1359.00 €, how realistically resell once new air out, assuming i'm using 4 month , keeping in conditions ? , if buy brand new 1 ? in other words, how money need upgrade mba 2011 mba 2012 once latter sees day ?

1) i'd wait till @ least wed when apple event occurs. other i'm not counting on hints until imminent launch.

2) depends on sell. listed mba here , got interest @ $950 , didn't sell it. ended selling on craigslist locally $1100. took on month sell though. purchased on amazon no tax, in case didn't take hit. typically $100-150 in past if timed right.

Recover Auto-Deleted Podcasts

hello all,

switched new itunes library, , set podcasts default keep last 5 episodes. switched current itunes library, , noticed itunes deleted old podcasts current library! , don't go trash. guess though switched libraries, preferences stayed same.

retrieve old podcasts, , tried free tool called photorec. found other deleted items, not podcasts. auto-delete use different way of deleting files? there other way of retrieving them? of these podcasts no longer available on itunes can't re-download them anymore.

not big deal, nice have them back. thanks.

Completely Wiping Personal Data?

so have appointment "genius" tomorrow have 4s replaced (speaker in earpiece crackles month now). restored factory loaded restore point, got rid of jailbreak still have contacts , such. happens phone when give them? restore in front of me? how know don't take in , go through texts/pics/whatever?

should restore factory before going up? thinking thought maybe it'd suspicious haha. not matters, still, seems they'd automatically think jber.

, there way wipe personal data? emails, contacts, texts, pics, web logins/passwords, notes, whatever other sensative material? read story of how guy got recieved phone , able recover previous owner's personal pics , facebook login , that, though factory restored when got it. granted chances of extremely slim, i'd rather safe sorry.

the app required premium subscription , offered streaming spotify service.

last year added feature let sync "local music" ios device - aimed @ people buying songs spotify (per track/album), can use it.

really, if don't have subscription you're better off using itunes manage , sync music.

i'm @ hotel , noticed has at&t wifi. works great on iphone 4 because i'm assuming picks i'm at&t member.

unfortunately can't on laptop because don't have at&t internet membership guess.

anyway, possible tether wifi (not 3g) phone laptop? phone not jail broken way.

know there tether plans doesn't apply "3g" service or include wifi connection well?

Problem with Graphic drivers on Win7

i having problem getting drivers of bootcamp 4.0
somehow got them, installed them there problem graphic drivers.
resolution of screen must 1440x900 17" imac. goes 1152x864, weird resolution.

checked display adapter on device manager, shows "standard vga graphics adapter". there nothing ati radeon x1600.
don't know why system doesn't use card, instead uses onboard graphic chip 8 bit suppose.


so, how can fix problem ?

iTunes App Synching question

i have iphone 4 sync apps icloud , itunes. want stop synching itunes when uncheck option in itunes message warning me "are sure dont want sync apps? existing apps , data on iphone removed".

if uncheck synching apps in itunes mean once sync done apps on iphone gone , if how them icloud without having restore backup?

Game Camera AVI will not play on MacBook

have video taken game camera of fox in our backyard, can't see on macbook. quicktime not avi or else? manual game cam indicates files can viewed on pc or mac. suggestions?

 

for watching .avi files in qt player, install perian.
can use vlc player , movist , other video player software play .avi files.

if .avi file not play in of these applications, use use videospec, mediainfo mac or mediainfo analyse video , attach report next post. analyse .avi file , attach report next post.

Why did my ssh/ping to another mac stop working after upgrade?

i have 3 macs on network, 2 of running lion , 1 (mac mini) running sl. upgraded mbp other day, before upgrade regularly ssh me@bangarang.local (the mac mini) , connect no problem. after upgrade, fails. tried ssh me@bangarang. tried ssh me@192.168.1.9. tried ping 192.168.1.9. though that's exact ip it's using (confirmed both through ifconfig , router), won't let me in. fails:

Podcast Producer/Composer/Capture

i have been tasked getting itunesu , running school work for. using xserve (w/lion) , podcast producer/composer/capture means create podcasts.

having trouble several aspects of setup, currently, focusing on images used each podcast/gallery. according instructions, when create workflow in podcast composer, should able drag image workflow inspector , set default image of podcast created workflow. not seem case, @ least i'm seeing. found directory podcasts, , image there, not pull in feed. when "right-click > view image" shows directory 1 cannot find.

have insight directory be, or how change directory? thanks!

Resolved Lots of Software Not Working on Windows 7 x64

hi everyone!
have installed new ssd in 2011 mbp, , have put fresh installs of lion , windows 7 professional 64 on it. having installed safari, quicktime , apple software updater, proceeded allow windows 7 update (long list of hundreds of system update thingumibobs), perform series of windows 7 optimisations ssds, such disabling search indexing, hibernation, prefetch, etc. applied mbr patch ahci disk drivers working in boot camp.

suddenly, no apparent reason, whole bunch of software doesn't work anymore. in safari's case, if open it, blue wheel next mouse pointer spins ~5 seconds (during safari listed in task manager processes) before stopping without notifications, or (and disappearing task manager). internet explorer works fine, using edit post now. steam , origin both stop working reported crash after opening.
ahci mode stops boot camp preferences panel working, tried reverting normal ide mode see if problem, there no change. have tried repairing, , reinstalling safari, , deleting safari's appdata. no change.

reinstall windows, seems silly when have no idea did make software stop working.

ideas?

 

just clear, software works fine (internet explorer, avira antivirus, windows media player), other software crashes immediately, trying resolve problem popup (steam, origin), , won't start @ all, without notice or error (quicktime, safari, apple software updater).

Weak wifi signal with Lion

dear all,
have been experimenting problems wireless connection 2 months, since have passed osx lion.
have been searching feedbacks same problems on web , on forum. seems me many people have experimented "constantly dropping wifi" since have passed lion.
not case, however: problem that, lion, signal of wifi very weaker (in terms of dbm) respect same signal registered mac snow leopard (and windows , androids). make example, 4 meters away router signal -50 if seen on pc, -80 if seen mac (with constant noise of -96). not normal.
did not succeed in finding solutions, since problems dropping wifi seem obscure in sense problem , not know can do. of course, down-grade snow leopard, paid lion , many reasons, wondering if there solutions.
sorry if else has asked same assistance , has not been able find discussion out.
of course, thank in advance help.

here details on hardware-software , attempts have performed.
have macbook 13,3 2,16 ghz intel core 2 duo, late 2007 (a1181).
software mac os x lion 10.7.3 (11d50b)

attempts: looking solutions on web, have performed following tasks:
- update software
- reset router
- reset wireless card
- reset pram
- reset smc
- delete airport passwords , profiles
- create connectivity profile
- rename wifi
- try other wifis
- change channels on router
- change router
- put "wi-fi" on top of column in preferred network window
- install native copy of snow leopard (the signal normal, id est windows gains)
- install native copy of lion (the signal bad, problem lion, not "my system lion")
- set mtu manually 1492
- recover io80211family.kext old (working) backup of snow leopard, install kext wizard, repair permissions , rebuilding kext cache. not working.

Difference Between these two MBPs?

macmall has 13" mc724ll/a $1,219 , 13" md314ll/a $1,424. when looking @ limited specs publish, looks difference 2.8 ghz i7 vs. 2.7 ghz i7, , 750 gb hd vs 500 gb hd. there other differences folks here aware of $200 price differential? know different release dates, on surface looks there's little or no noticeable difference. thoughts on better buy? wouldn't using real heavy lifting.

not sure trying do, time in computer stored gmt. when ask api give local time, reference 'timezone' settings , convert gmt time zone. so, unless timezone calc on gmt, gmt back.

in windows .net, there static properties datetime.now , datetime.utc (local , gmt respectively) can use conversion. i'm not sure cocoa equivalent.
