Problems with AFP (File Sharing) and Time Machine network Backups on OSX 10.7 Server

hi there folks,

i'm having issue new 10.7 server. we're running 10.7.3 server on late 2006 xserve 10gb ram , connected drobo pro time machine backups of our 50+ users via our internal network.

recently, time machine backups have been getting delayed, stating can't connect backup drive (which out drobo pro handling 16tb of space). drobo pro hass not unmounted, , ip addresses coming , going server handling backups still ping.

we've having trouble server resident drives , shared folders people can mount using ⌘+k shortcut or "connect server" option in finder. people choose ip address, , finder think few minutes give error stating cannot connect the specified ip. way can reestablish connection file sharing through remote computer remote or physically login server, go system preferences , turn "file sharing" off, on again. after that, ⌘+k on remote machine can find drives again.

it's driving me crazy why ocurring. don't know why, , people in office beginning complain can't access files on servers or worried because backups not completeing.

should known majority of machines have in ofice still running 10.6.8, handful on 10.7, haven't had time make major switchover yet.

i'm not best when comes server software or unix cli management (the office outsourced our network admin east coast), i'm bit stumped.

have suggestions try? there link between number of time machine users , connection failures? should tel netadmin create script restart file sharing protocol on server every couple of hours?

able help.

thanks,

jyhash
