Handbrake settings for ATV3 (CLI)

i have been scouring net trying answer situation.

have ton of blurays converted mkv on last 6-8 months. in 1080p. converted them mac.jedi's handbrake automation system (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=805573) appletv2. kept mkv's since knew end throwing 720p version out , keeping 1080p when v.3 or whatever comes out.

see there no preset appletv3, handbrake forums state use high profile setting 1080p. others increase atv2 settings 1080p.

now, found handbrake gui, need go picture settings, change anamorphic custom, , increase height 1080, while keeping aspect ratio. making sure large file size checked , away go. right?

moreso point. if right, how adapt cli. handbrake presets set (as per https://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/builtinpresets#highprofile)

firstly, if sources blu-ray don't need --detelecine or --decomb settings.

apart should need --strict-anamorphic or -w 1920 --loose-anamorphic, no need set --maxheight or --maxwidth

note, if did ever need use --maxheight or --maxwidth correct format --maxheight 1080 --maxwidth 1920. don't need < > brackets.

okay maybe can me here.

iphone 3g jailbroken, every time go cydia not open/crashes. every site have been says go /var/lib/apt/lists , delete files. problem have been there , see no files @ all. it's empty.

you need add them back,

need create .txt file each of sources below, contents of text file being source below , name (example saurik.list first source). , each source, can google default names need save each source as.

once have done need install ifunbox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) , ssh phone. once have ssh window open need enter command

(once update done may need run ("apt-get update" command) more once if notice cydia keeps crashing)

update cydia , ensure needed files installed, , type "reboot" command line reboot phone. depending on issue should fix it. having same problem yesterday matter of fact.

also, files need delete are:

navigate /private/etc/apt/sources.list.d

delete file "cydia.list" (click edit on top right, select file, , click waste basket).

navigate /var/lib/apt/lists

delete of files in folder except 1 called "lock"

navigate /var/lib/apt/lists/partial

delete of files in folder

navigate /var/lib/cydia

delete file "metadata.plist"

so signed itunes match, have 5.5k songs in library, found , "matched half , had upload other half, seamless, worked well, done.

question: when play music app on ipad, "cloud" icon disappears track, mean it's download track ipad locally? there way not that, , allow me stream tracks cloud?

 

there's no way that. clicking cloud downloads, not streams. have swipe side side , delete song off.

mid 2007 iMac processor upgrade

i got urge other day fiddling imac. 24" 2.4ghz mid 07 model. original aluminum. ive had since new. replaced hard drive once , upgraded second time i've got no problem pulling glass off everything.

last week started doing research on upgrading processor in machine. after finding out in fact socketed cpu found out @ least upgrade "core 2 extreme" higher clock speed. though saw mention of newer penryn chip working. ordered t9300 off of ebay 50 bucks. got buttoned , machine run. system profiler thinks 400mhz processor sucks. ran geek bench on before took old out , got score of 3646 in 64-bit mode. ran penryn process , got score of 3716. makes me think while os x , geebench think running @ 400mhz running @ 2.5ghz speed.

after more research i've realized penryn imacs use e class chips such e8235 2.8ghz chip. im planning pick 1 of these , see if can better/different results

just thought i'd add went ahead , ordered intel e8435 chip. it's 3.06ghz chip came in top of line imac in 08. i'll post results when installed.


i've been running machine t9300 2.5 days straight on boinc runs processor @ full load unless i'm doing , temps few degrees lower. i've noticed increased work being completed in boinc , haven't altered usage on machine 1 more indicator chip running @ higher clock speed os x thinks

Extreme wifi interference on 2.4Ghz band, what to do?

is there not thinking of wifi devices work in extremely crowed band? have ap set 2.4ghz wireless-g, site survey reveals 65 other ap's transmitting in range. speedtests taken connected device on ap extremely poor, , ping times terrible. have moved possible on 5ghz, works fine, devices such iphone stuck on 2.4ghz.

Seagate GoFlex ISSUE...Dead?!

hey guys. awesome seagate goflex 500gb external drive has been failing on me. right won't show on desktop @ all. checked in disk utility , sure enough it's there. however, won't show anywhere on desktop or finder , i've tried techniques of hiding/showing, through terminal , applescript. when put ear against it, it's working , turning; dies/goes sleep after few minutes though it's plugged in.

Photo hosting app with editing

i use ipad lot photo editing/management. eye-fi card auto-uploads photobucket, use photobucket app arrange things albums, download ipad editing , reuploading various places order prints (hardly lets order prints app, that's different complaint).

annoying thing photobucket doesn't let minor edits, rotating, in app. it's pain download , reupload pic that.

know of photo host ipad app has basic editing?

far i've found: photobucket , shutterfly don't. picasa/g+ , kodak gallery do, they're iphone apps. snapfish doesn't , iphone. found 3rd party flickr app does, don't how public on flickr. imageshack doesn't seem have app.

i use flickr , flickr studio app upload, think good. has editing , bulk uploading, letting me put pictures sets, collections, groups or leave is.

regarding seeing pics, change access privileges. can make them visible you, friends or everyone, within program before uploading.

i went best buy morning sleeve pre-ordered ipad. went ipad section , looking @ ipad 2's have in case , noticed on 1 side of case, had rows of ipad's faced backwards, showing side of ipad. ipad 2's shown front showing out customers.

possible new ipads? unless dumb bb employee faced them backwards no reason they're placed front looking out can see picture of ipad. tried take better see model number ipad facing backwards couldn't tell if new or ipad 2.

MacBook Pro Acting Daft?

hey all. running 2011 macbook pro os x. it's upstanding machine, or has been until today.

first, little background: 2 nights ago initiated "software update" before going bed. left system plugged in new firmware update installed. macbook in tip top shape until following night. shutting down, prompted install software updates. thought odd, considering had updated night before. anyways, let updates install (very brief installation, white screen grey apple , progress bar).

morning power , macbook acting positively batty. first of internet won't connect. it's connected wifi network safari states there connectivity issue. simple restart seems fix this.

go on work in keynote, putting important document work. try start itunes , prompted password. enter password, computer freezes. can't move cursor. after 2-3 minutes of locked screen, forced restart holding power button.

upon reloading, computer automatically relaunches applications had been running , promptly freezes again! can't move cursor , system unresponsive keyboard entries (like force quit extension). forced manually restart once again.

third start within span of 30 minutes, mind you. macbook seemingly fine now, though little more punchy usual. i've never had these types of issues, , i'm curious if has suspicious back updates, , can repair / fix this?

doesn't there has been update @ all, find real disappointment. can't believe uses rear facing camera on ipad, , have expected apple focus on improving front facing camera further improve facetime experience.

edit: poster below makes excellent point re quality of front-facing camera , impact of poor device on higher resolution screen.

1. size recommend get? (i have 100 apps , 15 gb of other things (music, etc.) keep on too).
2. best word processing app(s) get? pages/keynote/numbers best ones?

per thread title, it's not viable unless school , teachers pushing 100%.

best way use ipad in learning environment seems to have text/notes/resources on ipad in replace of books, , paper/pen notepads recording notes , sessions, doing work, scratch pad, etc.

if school doesn't support digital text books, , teachers aren't on digital game... have books, notepad, , ipad toy on side... , distraction , hindrance imho.

3. personal opinion, around

5. technology (computers, mobile devices, vehicles) never investment, in 12months sequel launched. in 24-36mo feel obsolete. may seem long time @ stage of life, isn't.

so price of 16gb ddr3 falling (have made jump), allocating 2gb ramdisk seems no brainerin terms of available resources, use for? should not need persistent between power cycles.

• temporary area holding wip files images

reference purposes here xbench hard disk scores 13"mbp, speed of ramdisk cannot denied..

• crucial m4 128gb (primary sata interface): 398.96

if os doing job (caching used stuff in memory , using available ram) should not needing ram disk.

modern oses (win/mac/linux) aggressive caching of used files - binary in ram when load second time, file program reading / writing buffered in cache , read ahead. sort of obviates use of ram disk imho.

what best method secure data on drives being copied?

- there password protection feature on mac os access drive. can gotten around starting external drive 1 can clone internal drives , pick data out.

mbp 13" external display = noisy fan?

ok it's bit of shortcut here worried noise of new mbp 13" when doing little watching streaming video or running light session of ableton live (5% cpu), , after investigation found problem comes integrated video, , driving external display , running video or ableton live software interface causes temperature increase of 25-30° (in cpu, mesured istat), , consequently fans running full speed. quite annoying in music production environment. increase in temperature close none when no display plugged.
bit disappointing, specially seeing how silent can ssd working.
kind of gathered supposed normal behavior (and 90° full load cpu temp not supposed problem); it's still annoying specially when need complete silence recording (for have unplug screen , it's ok).
i'm considering cooler pad solution, close silent fan, i'm skeptic result, seeing vent comes above.

phone 'sleeping'.
sms/imessage.
wake phone , see there sms/imessage waiting no time stamp.
can slide read if wish.
don't. if put phone sleep again, , awake it, notification still on lockscreen this time time sms/imessage arrived.

there way have time against upon first view? don't want wake phone twice see when sms/imessage arrived

Burning AVCHD to DVD-5 with compressor...

i have bluray elementary 264 stream , dolby digital audio file , need burn them dvd-5....how heck do this? ive been reading this: http://documentation.apple.com/en/c...nassociatingwithmessierrevision-90863act-sw28 im lost! wants me put in files re-encode! why can't burn files or make .img? sorry i'm frustrated right now. nice. thanks.

 

i didn't check link (entirely) gave. know this;

mpeg-2 what's used dvd's, not h.264. there dvd players can play h.264 files. not of them. guess article (since that's logical) guiding make dvd all dvd players read.

don't know how big file is, file that's going on disk should smaller 4.6gb, that's obvious of course.

use preset mpeg-2 (like 90 minutes) , 1 sound , use dvd studio pro combine them.

last thing, it's of course not possible burn hd movie disk. mean version dvd can play sd (so resolution around 640x480).
there possibility put high definition video on regular dvd, mac's , few (i don't know one) dvd players can play these kind of dvd's. you're limited 15 minutes of hd material.

dear fellow mac users,

have replaced late 2006 white macbook (built , bought in april 2007) macbook pro. , girlfriend has taken on old macbook, thinking replacing harddrive , upgrading os in system (i have done ram , battery). started wondering, how long should expect macbook keep on going? hitting 5 year mark in near future , hate waste upgrade on going die soon.

besides "standard" cracked plastic on front seems working flawlessly. there anyway check actual condition or of have experience macbooks dying?

App Store says I have updates...

and yet, not open, or 1 of apps had running previously, because killed multi-tasking bar. turn phone, , 2 apps ready updated, app store wasn't open or opened, odd

doesn't happen, once in great while app store tell me have update without me ever going app store. matter of fact, did tonight.

my mom watch lot of video streaming- more 6 hrs straight. should ipad charged while being connected tv. or should wait till battery drained before connecting d charger hdmi adapter? fell asleep 1 time , battery drained out. took me few hours of charging ipad before there sign of battery life. thought time ipad had died.

Is it possible to change the file of a song in iTunes?

situation: have ripped cd's itunes, i'm becoming fiend of quality, i'd use apple lossless audio codec (m4a) in order use airplay pioneer receiver, , load on iphone best possible sound no compression.

hopeful solution: i'd take cd's have, rip via flac convert apple lossless file drop directory itunes (user/music/itunes/itunes music) , keep data in itunes already. make sense? within itunes i'd keep play counts, ratings, songs in playlists right are, etc....the thing doing deleting mp3 / aac file , replacing lossless. don't mind going through albums , doing 1 album @ time, me it's worth it. or there way go this?

 

if recall correctly, can if replace mp3 file mp3 file of same name, example. however, don't think works if change file type, itunes sees separate file , new addition library.

need software organising references , citations in research papers writing , phd. legal papers , citations cases etc meet bluebook standard needed. endnote ok doesn't bluebook citations, there citrus program bluebook -but doesn't work on mac - wanting know if there in 1 kinda program other lawyers / researchers out there recommend mac

i haven't come across program supports bluebook, , given complexity of legal citations, , relatively small number of mac users use citation style, surprised if of programs supported it. however, live in different jurisdiction [and therefore don't use bluebook style], wrong. try asking other students , lecturers @ uni.

suppose run windows on mac via boot camp, , use windows program know. or maybe there's online tool?

if not, copy of style guide , keep go. it's incredibly boring [and @ times frustrating] task, it's not bad if work out proper citations work.

edit2: nevermind, misreading terminal readout. disk image download recovery disk assistant.

so, lion came computer, don't have install file mac app store. how can recovery partition remade or @ least make bootable usb drive?

put ssd in macbook pro (late 2011, 13") , put original harddrive in caddy in dvd drive's spot.

going reboot disk utility run on scan on drive, , realized command-r (or option) on boot wouldn't see second harddrive @ all, either main partition or recovery partition. same true of recovery disk assistant. but, if diskutil list command in terminal, ssd disk0, data harddrive disk1, , recovery disk2.

so, it's there, os x isn't seeing it. can see on drive that's not main drive? there way move it? should spend time download internet recovery (will stay put once downloaded?)

edit: clear, see main macintosh hd drive when boot holding option key. don't see recovery or main "datadrive" in list.

Need Help: DVD player not working

i have 15-inch mbp 2008 model. reason straight out of box had problems dvd/disk reader. recognized , read dvd's , other times spit disc right out. upgraded os , wont play or read kind of disc insert. there anyway reinstall drives player , help?

 

i had mine replaced. figured since system disc wasn't reading had problem.. if under warrantee, have apple check out.

you can sync phone new computer , not have erased; read here.

in terms of jailbreak tweaks, nothing should deleted when sync new computer. i'm not sure apps installed through cydia though.
