MBP won't recognize SSD?

i had problem mbp, , consensus seemed there issue hdd. bought new intel 320 ssd, , installed it. startup took forever , i'm brought install thing (snow leopard os install disk in optical drive), optical drive drive computer recognizes. asks me select disk install os on, area select drive blank.

can try solve this?

it need formatted before can install os. if you're using lion, quit installer , screen takes to, choose disk utility, erase drive there. if you're using snow leopard or earlier, disk utility in utilities menu @ top of screen.
