Camera 'not connected' and I froze up yesterday :/ worried

soo last few days built-in camera hasn't been registering @ on macbook pro. i've had year (give or take week) , haven't had issues before this.

not issue of camera being used in program.

things i've tried:
a) restarting
b) shutting down
c) resetting smc
d) restarting in safe mode, restarting again in normal mode
e) closing of programs use camera see if 'already in use' issue. it's not.

there else can short of taking computer apple store? closest 1 min. 1 hour drive away. don't have time right while before can there , i'd rather try fix myself if can.

i'm worried there may deeper problem, also, because yesterday (again first time) froze up. did have bunch of open programs time , it's never been issue before. had force shut down , reboot, after has been fine.

, before ask, no, don't have parallels.

ideas? i'm annoyed camera because use of time , miss dearly right now.
