16 GB ipad 3 or refurbished 32 GB ipad 2?

hello,

first post here , need advice. planning on buying ipad i'm having trouble deciding between 32 gb refurbished ipad 2 or 16 gb ipad 3 (wifi only). don't want buy 32 gb new ipad because want spend around 500$.
i'm med student i'll using medical apps, reading pdfs , ppts (2gb) , few light games (angry birds, temple run...). i'll keep music , photos on iphone. think 16 gb enough? or should go 32 gb ipad 2?

i recommend new ipad - better reading etc. gave ipad 2 girlfriend , retina display huge difference me.
