can't find/see "standard i/o, command window, command terminal"

maybe can point me in right direction. i'm using xcode 4.2.1, , playing around w/ command-line tool template. when running code able see output in debugger console, not able find "shell/command" input console edit , modify variables. (i'm assuming highly fashionable ide correct?)
